20th - 29th August - Kakadu, Katherine and Darwin I've been wanting to paint this amazing part of Australia for years and am really excited to be able to explore with a group of artists! It's a lovely small group trip with a mini bus and a chance to paint with the amazing colours of the Australian earth. 21st - 27th September 2025 - Capturing the colours of Fall at the Hudson River Valley Art School. This will be a botanical sketching workshop, with a focus on the leaves, gourds, pumpkins, corn and all the gorgeous colour of the Fall season. 8th November - 21st November - Autumn Colours of Japan. I've been to Japan in Winter a number of times and really love the country. I've dreamed about going in Autumn when the colours change. I've love running workshops and demonstrations. I've taught or demonstrated at the Urban Sketchers Symposiums in Singapore in 2015, Manchester in 2016, Chicago in 2017, Porto in 2018, Amsterdam in 2019 and Auckland in 2023. I've taught workshops and sketched with the Urban Sketchers in many cities of the world, and for art and watercolour societies locally and internationally - I love to travel :-)

In Australia I hope to do some workshops in Melbourne, Hobart and Perth, as well as in and around Sydney.

Classes in Watercolour

I run weekly classes in Watercolour in the Lane Cove area on Monday nights and Tuesday mornings. The Tuesday class is via Zoom! I also run special interest groups as requested. I've done a series of workshops for a landscape gardening company and am running another specifically on images from the Greek Islands for another group.

I also run occasional workshops for various art shops, societies or groups. See above list.

This was the fourth year of Watercolor Live, a fantastic opportunity to watch over the shoulder of over 30 professional watercolour artists, and I joined the online faculty and presented for the Essentials Day. 4th - 23rd October 2024 - three week sketching tour of the Greek Islands, including Kalymnos, Nissiros, Tilos, Halki and Rhodes. These are fabulous trips with the perfect balance of workshop time and time to explore and enjoy idyllic locations.

Saturday 4th - Sunday 5th November - Two-day watercolour workshop in Mudgeeraba, the Gold Coast of Australia. Day one was a deep dive into watercolour. This can be adapted for complete newbies or those with more experience. Day two was sketching with watercolour - working from life in a sketchbook.

Tuesday 26th July and Wednesday 27th July - one day workshop 'Fabulous Fungi' in Townsville (run twice). Fully booked.
August 6 - 14th - skiing in New Zealand - I always like to take a break and sketch the winter landscapes.
Greek Islands Painting Tour - 9th September - 28th September. A fabulous three week tour of the islands of Samos, Lipsi, Patmos and Kalymnos with fabulous sketching lessons and workshops along the way. Fully booked.
'Grounded' Exhibition - Gallery 11:11 in Epping, Sydney from the 3rd - 16th December 2022. This exhibition wass focused on the earth: stones and pebbles, trees growing from the earth and even leaf litter. These new paintings from 2022 feature a quite restrained watercolour palette. They are painted using ochre, umber and Sienna pigments and even earth reds, blues and greens, along with some brighter pigments and pigmented inks, to capture the texture and details of the subjects. The woodwork of Simon Begg accompanied this exhibition, including beautiful careful wood-turned bowls and larger outdoor chainsaw pieces. We had an artist talk and dinner on Friday 2nd December, and an opening celebration at the gallery on Saturday 3rd December. Concluding event featured tastings of the Whale Rock Brewery beers - 5.30 - 8.30 on Friday 16th December :-)
Thursday December 8th - 9th - two day Sketching the Natural World in watercolour workshop at Gallery 11:11, which incorporates drawing and sketching fungi and found objects using a range of tools and watercolour, working from life.

Thursday 11th - Friday 12th February - Watercolour for Beginners. Two day workshop at Gallery 11:11. This is the first of a series of 5 workshops to be presented at Gallery 11:11, designed to be taken in order as a comprehensive course, or as stand alone workshops.
Between 14th March and 29th March: two online workshops for a Natural Science Illustrators Guild in the US, on colour mixing. Each workshop had 4 sessions with me via Zoom, and additional sessions for the group to work together without me, also via Zoom. The first was 13th, 14th 17th and 20th March (US dates) and the second was 21st, 24th, 27th and 28th March (US dates). It's a new way to teach international workshops and I really enjoy teaching via Zoom as everyone has exactly the same very clear view of what I am doing. Both fully booked.

24th - 27th July - Urban Sketchers Symposium - Amsterdam - I'll be teaching a workshop on tone and texture in urban sketching.
6th to 25th October - Sketching and painting tour in the Greek Islands. This was a fabulous chance to sketch at 6 beautiful islands - Rhodes, Nissiros, Kastellorizo, Symi, Kalymnos and Kos, with plenty of tuition but also time to explore. Painting subjects for everyone - Colourful fishing boats, dramatic mountains, domed monasteries, white-washed bougainvillea filled lanes, dense olive groves, medieval fortresses, turquoise coves, cafes, lively sketches of locals and so much more.
